VICENTERRA is about a human adventure, the adventure of Vincent Plomb, a man made for challenges and entrepreneurship. It is also a trip in which the steps are as important as the goal, and a journey which essence is the human relationships. But most importantly VICENTERRA is a tribute to the history of humankind that can be summarized with verbs such as to dare, to excel, to discover, to achieve and to transmit.
Trained as a micro-mechanical designer, Vincent was introduced to the horological external parts through the 2D and 3D concept. This realm that brings together technology and design offered him the opportunity to acquire a strong understanding of the watchmaking architecture. But the company he was working for went bankrupt. Vincent decided to pursue sharpening his know-how and critical mind in this field by working with many different watch brands. The 1st December 2003 Realis, the parent company of VICENTERRA was born. Knowing that the watchmaking industry goes in cycles, Vincent has never ceased to be very active and while multiplying the number of contracts with the watch brands, he also studied and made some researches that allowed him to sketch out his first ideas about how a timepiece should be.
The project of creating a brand was about to be put in place when one a half year later Vincent decided to be self-employed and made an important encounter. This experience gave him the necessary impetus to design the first module with three complications.
Step by step all the ideas were organized and became clearer to give birth to the first prototypes. It required three years of work to materialize the original idea. In march 2008 Vincent was facing some issues related to the production of the watch. Indeed after having prospected several production vectors, a promising partnership ended suddenly due to crisis in October 2008.
The project remained pending until June 2009, when the GMT-3 emerged in Vincent’s mind. This model inherited from the first prototypes and has become the cradle of the brand’s concept. During that time another production attempt ended unsuccessfully. In november 2009 the most important lines of the history of VICENTERRA were defined by the human relationships. It is around a table with some friends that the very particular concept of the brand became clearer.
Noticing the interest the project generated among the press agents helped in reinforcing Vincent determinism for whom the success of his project was not questionable. The project needed to be conceptualized, and until February 2010 Vincent had to put into contribution his creative mind to create the design of the first GTM-3 model. Vincent emphasized on the aesthetics of the watchcase since he wanted it to be exclusive. During the same time the brand VICENTERRA was officially registered as a trade mark.
The originality of the product generated an unanimous interest during the public presentation. Receiving a massive support from the print and the digital media, articles about the GMT-3 spread as a wildfire. In april 2010 Vincent received about twenty pre-orders for the GMT-3, most of buyers decided to purchase it simply by seeing the visuals or by watching the 3D animation of the timepiece.
However to ensure the viability of the brand, 70 pre-orders needed to be placed. VICENTERRA did find the needed supports across the world. From Chicago to Beijing via Sydney, Paris and Geneva, the number of the pre-orders increased every day. The minimum number of pre-orders was reached in October 2010. The company VICENTERRA SA was finally born and the pre-orders contracts were sent out.
Vincent’s dream has come true. In this dream where the precision is important, Vincent does not rely on luck. The heart of the adventure VICENTERRA is the love for the perfectly mastered work. However meeting the right partners capable of ensuring the production and the kick-off of the product was also essential. Perfectionist, Vincent chose to have multiple partners. This choice was essentially due to relationships that have been created during this adventure.
As soon as the first parts of the watch were received the pace of VICENTERRA. The various gears, bridges and axes had to be tested through different stages and receive many treatments before being assembled to give the final shape of the caliber GTM-3.
Any artistic expressions needs a context in order to assert itself and the caliber of the GMT-3 does it via a unique steel tonneau case which proportions, dimensions and surfaces are as beautiful as comfortable to wear. A large cylindrical glass is placed on top in order to provide a discrete reading of your timepiece’s functions.
The timepiece has a multidimensional dial in which we can find different surfaces and where the earth globe shares its rotation with the sun disk and the moon in order to indicate the day and night. The multidimensional characteristic of the dial is also expressed through its features. Indeed the GMT-3 no less than five functions, among them a retrograde date and a second time zone expressing the full meaning to word journey.
